Even though I had really enjoyed helping my clients lose weight at the center, I was concerned about some key issues that, being trained as a dietitian, I knew were very problematic.
First, while the weight loss center did an excellent job providing a simple to follow system that made it easy for their clients to lose weight, they did not teach them anything about the basics of good nutrition.
Second, some of what was being promoted as “healthy” was not actually backed by science but rather based on personal beliefs.
Because many of the staff members didn’t actually have a strong background in nutrition themselves, there was also a lot of confusion about what “eating healthy” actually meant.
What I quickly realized is that this is true for all of the big programs (like WW, Medifast, South Beach, even Noom) out there.
I knew that a true solution would have to provide 2 things:
- a complete step-by-step system that anyone could follow.
- a sound understanding of what good nutrition is.
